The Role The VP, Programming and Development is responsible for partnering with content executives and key department stakeholders at Complex Networks. The VP, Programming and Development will develop original programming concepts that extend the relevance of Complex brands to digital video audiences, with an emphasis on building new formats, series, and/or channels for all social platforms. This position requires a combination of content development and strategic thinking. This position reports to the General Manager of Complex. You Will Formulate content programming strategy and communicate that strategy internally and externally, using data to drive key decisions and optimize our content portfolio Forecast and lead content flow to enable thoughtful long-term programming health across content areas and geographic markets Translate business objectives into strategies and apply analytical and critical thinking into insights and action within the creative side of the business Partner with the Production team/EIC's to establish an estimated production budget for new projects, for both pilot and continuation phases. Produce sizzles and supporting materials to communicate new opportunities both internally and externally Ensure programming is in sync on upcoming schedule needs, air-dates, program changes, delivery dates, and key programming initiatives Establish and maintain strong collaborative and communicative relationships with multiple departments, including Production, Development, Marketing, Finance, Branded Content, Rev Ops, and Brand Partnerships Leverage data to inform key stakeholders on potential content acquisitions, content performance, scheduling, and daily program placement decisions Identify, track and evaluate the content, producers, and IP, both off-service for potential licensing opportunities and on-service for performance analysis You Have 10
years experience in content production and programming Deep knowledge of the digital video programming landscape Strong background in building successful new content in pop culture, sneaker, street style culture, and/or lifestyle categories Proven experience developing content intended for primary consumption on all social platforms Highly skilled in applying data to the analysis of digital video content performance Strong understanding of mechanics of high growth social video platforms Superior written and verbal communication skills Experience writing scripts, treatments, and distribution plans Experience producing pilots and overseeing the launch of new content Experience scoping production budgets and communicating with production teams Strong attention to detail and ability to follow through proactively on projects until completion An ability to multi-task and work effectively under changing priorities and time constraints
Salary Range:
$250K -- $500K+
