Compliance Counsel

Via is looking for an exceptional lawyer to join us as we look to grow our global TransitTech business rapidly and prepare to launch new cities around the world. As Compliance Counsel, Regulatory & Compliance, you will join our dynamic and growing Legal Department, with a particular focus on ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, serving as a trusted advisor to multiple internal business partners and minimizing legal risk to the Company. You will work closely with all members of the Legal team, gaining hands-on exposure to all aspects of in-house legal work at a fast-growing startup. What You'll Do:
Research applicable federal, state and local laws, and regulations and ordinances, for a wide variety of domestic and international on-demand transit deployments. Work cross-functionally with business and operations teams to build processes that ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, especially with federal, state and local transportation regulations. Assist the Compliance team to improve processes for responding to complex regulatory requests and manage the company's data production in responding to external audits and regulatory inquiries. Development and deliver compliance training programs. Update Legal team colleagues on developments regarding significant or emerging legal and compliance risks. Work on various compliance matters with cross-disciplinary teams from Finance, Business Development, Operations, Growth and Communications, and advise on relevant legal issues and regulatory risks, identify and recommend risk mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. Support the Public Policy team by participating in transportation rule makings and provide feedback on proposed regulations' impacts on the company's lines of business. Provide general legal support to our global business on an as-needed basis. Who You Are:
3-5 years of experience at a law firm, in-house legal department or a combination of the two, including previous regulatory experience Practicing lawyer with impressive track record of academic achievement Meticulous and vigilant, with a keen attention to detail Willing to wear multiple hats and work on varied regulatory issues Team player who works well cross-functionally High-energy and enjoy working autonomously Outstanding writer with strong research skills Business-minded (you will need to pay attention to business operations as well as legal issues) Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills What Catches Our Eye:
In-house legal experience strongly preferred; experience with a tech startup or a public company is a bonus but not required Substantive expertise in compliance or regulatory practice preferred Language skills are a bonus but not required We're Via, and we build technology that changes the way the world moves. Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Legal & RegulatoryEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
