) Youth Workforce Department consists of a number of different programs serving youth in building their career readiness experience.
The individual hired as the Full - Time Job Developer will be working with the Work, Learn & Grow (WLG) Program, Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) and ACS V Cred programs.
These programs provide participants who are between the ages of 14-24 with career readiness training and paid employment opportunities during the school year and throughout the summer.
This is not a youth-participant facing position.
The role will include extensive interaction with employers in an effort to recruit, develop and retain partnerships for our various youth employment programs.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR The ideal candidate for the Job Developer position will be, first and foremost, highly self-motivated to find exciting job opportunities for our youth participants in a wide range of industry sectors.
This individual will be full of energy, passion and show tenacity when recruiting new partners along with creativity and outside-the-box thinking when researching what kind of jobs today's youth are interested in.
Think of yourself as a salesperson who is trying to convince potential employers that it would be in their best interest to host SYEP interns.
The Job Developer will display empathy and accountability, ensuring that a collaborative environment is maintained both with our team as well as with external partners.
This individual will promote open dialogue, constructive feedback and the constant flowing of ideas and innovation in the way we think about worksite development.
This dynamic professional won't be shy to try new things, take some risks and seek to constantly raise the ceiling of our program's quality, while ensuring our quantitative goals are always met.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Initiate and maintain ongoing personal contact with a variety of business and industry representatives and job placement/training agencies to develop engaging and meaningful internship experiences for our participants.
Serve as a relationship manager with responsibility for research, recruitment, cultivation, and retention of employment opportunities.
Be accountable for significant job development and outcome targets for Youth Employment programs including but not limited to SYEP, WLG and ACS V Cred.
Use marketing strategies to grow and manage the program's engagement pipeline by identifying relevant industries, corporation,s and organizations to target for development building efforts Ability to comfortably present a proposal in front of a targeted audience such as business owners, community leaders, and diverse constituents Must be able to keep accurate detailed records of worksites that have been engaged and will be engaged Collect data from employers related to job orders, including job requirements and skills; match job skills with applicant qualifications; refer qualified applicants to employers, and conduct necessary follow-up when applicants are placed in positions.
Make introductions and recommendations for beneficial alliances and partnership opportunities for the agency and among our partners.
Build strong relationships and directly collaborate with program staff to leverage external affiliations and accomplish shared goals.
Research, schedule and complete site visits to prospective and existing partners, serving as a liaison between worksite and Commonpoint Queens.
EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
Minimum 2 years of Job Development/Youth Development experience strongly preferred.
Familiarity with SYEP & WLG strongly preferred.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS Strong interest in working with high school and college students.
Outcome driven with ability to respond to changing circumstances and priorities.
Ability to manage, organize and motivate groups and individuals.
Broad knowledge of the overall structure, programs, and services of the agency, including policies and procedures.
Excellent interpersonal, networking, strategic planning and organizational skills.
Demonstrate cultural competency through familiarity in working with people from very diverse backgrounds.
Remains composed under stress, handles responses to criticism tactfully, and delivers on organizational commitments.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Ability to convey and participate in team oriented work.
Computer literate, including experience with Google suite & Microsoft Office software SPECIFICATIONS FOR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to travel to multiple employer and service sites within the five boroughs.
NYS Drivers License is strongly preferred.
