New York, NY New York, NY Full-time Contract Full-time Contract $28 - $30 an hour $28 - $30 an hour 8 days ago 8 days ago 8 days ago We are seeking a child welfare Disability Eligibility Analyst (DEA).
The DEA will be responsible to screen children in the custody of NYC Administrative Children Services (ACS) for potential SSI and/or Retirement, Survivors, Disability Insurance (RSDI) eligibility.
In their role they will also collect technical information, medical & school evidence to develop applications to be filed with the Social Security Administration (SSA).
The DEA will need to understand or learn SSA's childhood and young adult disability criteria and apply analytical thinking to claims development.
The DEA will work closely with ACS Case workers, foster care providers, parents, older youth, schools and health providers to both gain information and to provide status updates.
Responsibilities:
Screen foster care youth's case records and referrals monthly to achieve outcome goals.
Appropriately identify youth who are likely eligible for SSI based on a disability.
Process Change of Payee forms and submit to SSA for youth who come into care with SSI eligibility.
Request medical, mental health, school and work records.
Identify proper forms and obtain signatures on all the required forms and documentation.
Communicate w/ case workers when pursuing an SSI/RSDI application for youth on their caseloads and provide status updates.
Assess records and apply analytical thinking to claims development.
Review denied claims to determine the merits for an appeal.
Provide monthly reporting statistics to Supervisor.
Required Skills:
Intermediate skills with Word, Excel.
PPT, Outlook Microsoft products.
Professional writing and verbal communication skills Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish working relationships with public sector agencies.
Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of all materials in the work setting.
Knowledge and understanding of SSA's medical, mental and vocational criteria's Knowledge and understanding of SSI,RSDI and other federal funding sources for foster youth.
Ability to maintain record keeping to monitor monthly targeted goals.
Ability to work independently, requiring minimal supervision.
