Morstan General Agency seeks a Business Development Specialist for our team in New York City.
Under the general leadership of the Director of Business Development, the Business Development Specialist is responsible for developing new relationships with new and existing insurance Brokers to support the growth of Morstan General Agency.
This position offers an outstanding base salary and an opportunity to learn the wholesale side of the insurance business.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
oEffectively prospect new business contacts, while also enhancing existing Broker and Agent relationships.
oBuild and maintain key relationships with carriers, vendors and other parties.
oResponsible for maintaining knowledge of products offered through Morstan and stay abreast of regulatory and compliance changes.
oPursue educational objectives for professional development.
oStrategizes with Profit Center Leader on marketing opportunities to grow the division.
oSubmit marketing reports on a timely basis.
oCorrespond with Brokers, Carriers, general agents and clients via phone, mail and email to respond to escalated or complex quote and claim inquiries, investigate and resolve issues, and follow up on outstanding items.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
oMinimum education required High School Diploma or GED.
oProficient with MS Office SuiteoExceptional telephone demeanoroValid Driver LicenseoAbility to maintain a high level of confidentialityo5 or more years' experience in a similar positionoThis position requires routine or periodic travel which may require the teammate to drive their own vehicle or a rental vehicle.
Acceptable results of a Motor Vehicle Record report at the time of hire and periodically thereafter, and maintenance of minimum acceptable insurance coverages are a requirement of this position.
PreferredoAssociate or bachelor's degree in an insurance or accounting related disciplineoMust possess or have the ability to obtain a broker's licenseWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
