Adjunct Instructor in Performance Art

Location New York Description The at New York University invites applications for a Part-Time/Adjunct Faculty Instructor to teach a course in performance art for spring 2022.
This is a non-tenure track/part-time faculty position.
We seek artist/practitioners with a significant exhibition record of performance-based work and experience teaching undergraduate students in a studio art context.
We are particularly interested in applications from instructors whose work centers the lived experiences of queer and/or Black, Indigenous, and people of color.
Candidates must have the ability to teach beyond technique and accommodate students of varying skill levels within one class.
The Gallatin Interdisciplinary Arts Program distinguishes itself as a hybrid of arts practice and scholarly inquiry.
Through a combination of coursework, lectures, exhibitions, and performance opportunities, students are immersed in the liberal arts, practice, and in research.
Modeled on the artist-scholar philosophy of education, the Program invites students to design concentrations that combine intellectual pursuits and creative work, blending theory, research, and practice.
Founded in 1972, NYU Gallatin is a liberal arts college of 1,500 undergraduate students and 200 Masters students that is a part of New York University.

programs in individualized study encourage students to develop an integrated, interdisciplinary program of study that combines courses taken in the various schools of NYU with independent studies, internships, and Gallatins own interdisciplinary seminars, writing courses and arts workshops.

Qualifications MFA preferred; demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college or university level; and a strong record of innovative work in the field.
