Director of Operations for Homeless Shelter ProgramSalary - $80,000Job SummaryThe Director of Operations for Shelter for Homeless Program is responsible for overseeing the overall operation and administration of the shelter, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of services to homeless individuals and familiesThis role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a deep commitment to helping those experiencing homelessness.
Responsibilities Program Management:
Develop and implement comprehensive programs and services to address the needs of homeless individuals and families, including shelter, meals, healthcare, counseling, and job placementMonitor program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal outcomesCollaborate with stakeholders, including community partners, volunteers, and government agencies, to enhance program delivery and effectivenessStay up to date with best practices, research, and trends in homeless services and incorporate them where appropriateStaff Management:
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff members, ensuring they have the necessary skills and resources to fulfill their roles effectivelyProvide ongoing support, guidance, and professional development opportunities to staffFoster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and accountabilityFinancial Oversight:
Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring financial resources are allocated effectively and responsiblyMonitor and analyze financial reports, identifying potential areas for improvement and implementing corrective actionsSeek grant funding opportunities and collaborate with the development team to secure additional financial support for shelter programsFacility Operations:
Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of the shelter facility, ensuring a safe and clean environment for residents and staffImplement and enforce policies and procedures related to security, safety, and emergency preparednessDevelop partnerships with vendors and contractors for facility maintenance and repairsData Analysis and Reporting:
Collect, analyze, and report statistical data on shelter operations and client outcomesUse data-driven insights to evaluate program effectiveness and identify areas for improvementPrepare regular reports for executive management and external stakeholders.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in social work, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)Proven experience in managing programs for homeless individuals and families, preferably in a shelter settingStrong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and empower staffExcellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilitiesFamiliarity with local and federal regulations pertaining to homeless servicesStrong financial management and budgeting skillsAbility to collaborate and build relationships with diverse stakeholdersExcellent written and verbal communication skillsCompassionate, empathetic, and committed to making a positive impact on the lives of homeless individuals and families.
