We're seeking a future team member for the role of Director / Managing Counsel - Regulatory Policy / Market Structure - Public Policy and Government Affairs to join our BNY Mellon's Public Policy and Government Affairs team.
This role is located in Washington, DC OR NYC - HYBRID/REMOTE.
This individual will lead on regulatory policy and advocacy focusing on financial market structure as a member of BNY Mellon's Public Policy and Government Affairs team.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Serving as a subject-matter expert and key advisor to senior management on regulatory developments related to market structure, including the U.
S.
Treasury market; Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on U.
S.
financial market regulatory developments; Partnering with lines of business and corporate functions to identify regulatory priorities, assess impact and opportunities, and develop company positions; Developing, leading, and executing on proactive internal regulatory strategy as well as external engagement and advocacy strategies, including with trade associations and peers; Preparing speakers and briefing materials for senior management in advance of regulatory interactions; Cultivating relationships with policymakers, industry peers, and trade associations; and Maintaining BNY Mellon's role as a trusted voice and industry leader on high-profile policy issues To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
8-12 years of SEC/CFTC, federal banking agency, law firm, trade association or US GSIB preferred; Strong understanding of policy development process at the Federal Reserve, OCC, FDIC, SEC, CFTC, BCBS, FSB, and other standard setting organizations; Experience working directly with regulators; Strong time management and organizational skills to manage multiple projects and time-sensitive issues; Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across different teams; Flexible and adaptable to changing issues and regulatory priorities; and Proactive self-starter that demonstrates initiative, creativity, and resourcefulness to work independently.

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees.
The base salary for this position is expected to be between $136,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment.
However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
