Senior Privacy Counsel

Who You AreAs part of the Legal team, Senior Privacy Counsel will provide privacy legal support to Justworks in support of various functions in the organization.
This role will collaborate cross-functionally with people in different levels of the organization, to enhance Justworks' privacy program and build a strong privacy culture.
Your Success ProfileWhat You Will Work On Participate in the design, implementation and maintenance of a global privacy program that ensures compliance with applicable domestic and international privacy laws and best practices Maintain subject matter expertise and educate stakeholders on applicable foreign and domestic regulations pertaining to privacy and data governance, including staying up to date on new or pending laws and regulations that could impact Justworks Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Digital Security, Payments & Tax Unit, Customer Success, People, Marketing, Business Operations, Sales, and other teams to ensure that privacy is built into the design of new products, features, and business initiatives Work closely with other members of the Legal team on privacy considerations related to vendor review and management and customer contracts Support the ongoing review and update of Justworks' privacy policies, standards and procedures Work closely with and manage outside counsel relating to privacy matters Prepare and conduct training, as necessary, and help drive privacy program awareness Regularly interact with executives and senior managers in connection matters of significance to the organization Other duties as needed based on department and/or organizational needs How You Will Do Your WorkAs Senior Privacy Counsel, how results are achieved is paramount for your success and ultimately results in our success as an organization.

Qualifications JD degree from an accredited law school and admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law Minimum of 5 years of substantive legal experience in privacy matters with a corporate legal department and/or a nationally recognized law firm Must possess a superior knowledge of applicable data privacy regulations and standards (e.
g.

state privacy laws, GDPR, PIPEDA) Sound judgment in managing risk and exposure Committed to being a legal business partner to internal clients Experience advising B2B technology company product teams on privacy and data governance requirements preferred IAPP privacy certification (CIPP/US, CIPP/M, CIPP/E or CIPT) a plus Additional Competencies Internal communications experience Superior written and verbal communication skills Excellent time management, organizational and analytical skills Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines Detail-oriented A collaborative, team player with a positive attitude Occasional travel is required The base wage range for this position based in our New York City Office is targeted at $198,000.
