The Driver is a crucial member of the SOS Overnight Teams, providing essential transportation services to individuals in crisis or needing transportation to access services or shelter.
Reporting to the SOS Program Coordinator, this role involves responding promptly to transportation requests, ensuring passenger safety, and maintaining effective communication with the SOS Teams.
Education Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of driving experience.
Previous experience in emergency transportation or a related field is a plus.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Emergency Transportation:
Respond promptly to transportation requests from SOS Teams.
Safely transport individuals to designated shelters or service locations.
Communication:
Maintain clear and effective communication with SOS Teams.
Report any issues or concerns related to transportation promptly.
Adherence to Protocols:
Familiarize yourself with and adhere to all relevant protocols for emergency transportation services.
Ensure compliance with local traffic laws and regulations.
Vehicle Maintenance:
Regularly inspect and maintain the assigned vehicle.
Report any maintenance needs promptly to ensure passenger safety.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of each transportation assignment.
Document pick-up and drop-off times, locations, and any incidents during transit.
Professionalism:
Interact respectfully and professionally with individuals in crisis and SOS Teams.
Uphold a high level of empathy and sensitivity when dealing with diverse and vulnerable populations.
Qualifications:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to work overnight shifts and respond to emergency transportation requests on short notice.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Compassion and empathy for individuals facing crisis situations.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Able to demonstrate flexibility and adapt quickly to change.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing documentation and financial transactions.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
