Ability to troubleshoot SQL query performance issues including the ability to use query plans to find bottlenecks.
Power BI Desktop and Service.
Power BI semantic model design (tables, relationships, filter directions, etc.
).
Intermediate to advanced level DAX.
Understanding of and ability to make decisions around Power BI Direct vs Import mode.
Ability to think critically about where transformations should happen in a Power BI solution (at the data source vs in Power Query vs in DAX).
Basic understanding of the Power Query Formula Language/M.
Thorough understanding of the Power BI security model (SSO, RLS, Workspace Permissions, App permissions, Audiences, etc.
).
Basic understanding of Windows and Azure-based security (Active Directory security group, Microsoft 365 Groups, etc.
) Experience with a variety of data sources (e.
g.
static tables, SharePoint hosted files, relational databases, web-based APIs).
Ability to configure and troubleshoot Power BI service Connections and On Premise Gateways.
Basic understanding of Git including branching and merging.
Azure DevOps (repos and boards).
