Construction Manager
ERSG is recruiting for a Construction Lead (Civil) focusing on the onshore substation construction work. This will be in Brooklyn, New York for a large offshore wind developer with multiple projects confirmed off the east coast. This candidate will play an important role in shaping and accelerating the energy transition towards Renewables. This role will report to the Onshore Substation Construction and Commissioning Manager.Our client expects gross investments in renewables of around USD 23 billion from 2021 to 2026, and Procurement and Supplier Relations (PSR) will be instrumental in shaping this into a profitable industry.Please Note:
This is initially a contract positions (expected 2 years) with potential contract extension(s). We are looking for individuals commutable or open to relocating to Brooklyn, New York (unfortunately no relocation is provided). This position is open to individuals who have the right to work in the United States without sponsorship. We offer health/dental/vision insurance, and you will become eligible for 401K with a 4% match after 12 months of employment. Roles & Responsibilities Responsible for the on-site performance management of the Onshore Substation construction scope with focus on safety, quality and schedule. Strong collaboration with other construction engineers and contractor to ensure overall project delivery as expected. Responsible for the field oversight and coordination of the Onshore Substation at South Brooklyn Marine Terminal in Brooklyn, NY. Work scopes overseen include site civil work, deep foundation piles, rebar, concrete, below grade utilities, structural and ornamental steel installations, curtain wall installations, architectural details/finishes, and mechanical, electrical, plumbing building installations and commissioning. Focus will be on oversight of civil work, with some mechanical and electrical work overseen. Responsible for being the on-site Construction Supervisor as required by New York State Article VII process. Interface with and report to the Project management on construction progress and activities, and coordinate with the Project's internal and external resources. Construction Lead is responsible for ensuring contractor safety compliance, environmental compliance, schedule adherence, coordination of work with other contractors, verification of work progress, verification of on-site labor and equipment, verification of timesheets & daily reports, agency permit compliance, compliance with contract drawings and specifications, coordination with Owner's Engineer, resolution of technical field issues, coordination with 3rd party New York City Department Of Buildings inspection firm, safety inspections/spot checks, liaise with local stakeholders (residents, other utilities, etc), manage schedule, attend punch list walks, follow up on punch list items, verify Mechanical Completion checklists. Experience working with New York City Agencies (DOB, DEP, FDNY), LEED certification and New York City trade Union Labor is required.
Qualifications:

years of related experience in engineering and construction management. Engineering discipline experience in utility industry/substation design and construction is required. Experience from construction projects in New York City is required. Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is required. Years of relevant construction experience may compensate for design experience. Safety trainings are required. Collaborative, enthusiastic, and curious attitude. Able to lead the follow-up team, influence contractor's management in a positive manner and deliver results. Highly effective communicator with clear and concise writing and presentation skills. Able to deliver safety and priority messages to the company and contractor team. Ability to professionally interact with regulatory agency representatives is required. Thorough knowledge of local construction practices, systems, standards and regulatory framework, including labor relevant specifics.
