Senior Consulting Officer
Job Description:
OBJECTIVE The Consultant will support the mandate of the North America Regional Office (New York and Toronto) by executing the following key tasks, which include but are not limited to, the following:
Export Promotion; Investment Promotion; and General Functions.

JAMPRO Office in New York/Toronto ACTIVITIES Specific Export Promotion Initiatives To drive increased export sales of Jamaican goods and services to Canada and the United States supported by the completion of the following duties:
a.
Identify new North America importers of Jamaican goods and services that can be introduced to Jamaican companies.
b.
Facilitate new and re-order contracts once matches have been identified and agreed with a Jamaican supplier.
c.
Facilitate the maintenance of existing contracts between Jamaican exporters and importers by monitoring and resolving issues as they arise.
d.
Organize and execute inward and outward trade missions from Jamaica to North America and vice versa to allow for meetings between potential importers and Jamaica exporters of goods and services.
e.
Identify and participate trade shows, exhibitions, networking events and other similar events and facilitate cost-effective attendance by Jamaican suppliers as appropriate and in collaboration with Head Office sector teams.
f.
Work with the local teams to identify and analyze the types of fresh and processed produce grown in Jamaica and the quantities available for export to the North America market.
g.
Organize meetings for Jamaica exporters that visit the market and potential importers or business partners.
h.
Liaise with the North America authorities to address any issue relating to exports coming into the market.
i.
Generate market intelligence on changes in the market that may positively or negatively impact the levels of exports in various sectorsRequired profile:
Specific Investment Initiatives To promote and facilitate increased investments from Canada and the United States supported by the completion of the following duties:
a.
Identify potential investors for investment opportunities in Jamaica.
b.
Directly target potential investors to encourage their investment in key sectors in Jamaica.
c.
Coordinate with appropriate divisions in Head Office to secure information, data, and requisite support to develop prospects.
d.
Offer pre-investment services to facilitate and expedite the establishment of new business and/or the expansion of existing ones in Jamaica.
e.
Work closely with Regional Manager and Head Office to align and coordinate promotional activities.
f.
Liaise with relevant departments in Head Office, to aid investors and prospective investors in obtaining licenses, permits, certificates or the relevant clearance needed for the commencement, operation and expansion of businesses.
g.
Provide local and foreign investors and prospective investors with information on potential business partnerships.
h.
Keep abreast of developments in local and foreign markets to guide the development of new sector services and meet investment targets.
i.
Keep abreast of developments in markets assigned to guide the development of new sector services.
j.
Generate market intelligence on changes in the market that may positively or negatively impact the levels of investments in various sectors.
