A Leading Multi-Billion Dollar Investment Advisory Firm in Manhattan is looking for a permanent, employee for an Analyst for their SMA & Direct Trading Platform Management who is an excellent process manager and natural multi-tasker. The successful candidate is proactive, has an eye for what matters, and can get things done quickly through agile problem-solving, perseverance, and effective communication skills. This position sits within the Firm's Separately Managed Account (SMA) & Direct Trading Platform Management team, a part of the group overseen by the Firm's Chief Operating Officer. The team works to ensure that the platform has the best possible operational and counterparty setup to meet the Firm's investment needs. This includes leading the onboarding and counterparty setup for new managed accounts and trading portfolios, managing counterparty relationships, negotiating commercial terms, optimizing platform efficiency, balance sheet & margin, and reducing counterparty risk. The new hire will report to the Head of SMA & Direct Trading Platform Management and work closely with other team members. The individual will also interact with the Firms other functional teams (Investments, Legal, Risk, Finance) as well as MIO's external financing and trading counterparties and SMA sub-advisers. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Midtown, New York. The firm has adopted a flexible, hybrid model that allows for a blend of remote and in-office work. Primary responsibilities Support and ultimately lead the onboarding of new portfolios and managed accounts to the MIO platform, including the setup of counterparty trading, financing, and clearing relationships. Work closely with portfolio managers and the Investment team to ensure they have the capabilities needed to implement their investment strategies and expand capabilities in new products and markets. Support and lead a variety of projects designed to improve crucial elements of the SMA platform (e.g., managing financing costs, monitoring margin usage, calculating the Firm's wallet paid to counterparties, and tracking compliance with counterparty-imposed limits) Creatively enhance processes to increase effectiveness (e.g., build better reporting) and efficiency (e.g., automate tasks) Produce targeted analysis related to onboarding new SMA managers, enhancing the setup of existing managers and portfolios, and optimizing our counterparty relationships and platform economics. Help manage external counterparty relationships, including negotiating key commercial terms, supporting counterparty credit due diligence processes, working with legal to negotiate trading and financing documentation, and ensuring optimal coverage and client service for all internal stakeholders. Desired background Undergraduate degree with a distinctive GPA, preferably in a quantitative discipline (e.g., finance, economics, mathematics) 2-6 years of professional experience with an investment firm or other financial services provider Experience with financial operations, including managing and owning a routine process and/or project management experience. Strong grasp of alternative investment strategies, financial instruments and products, common margin methodologies, and financing arrangements (e.g., prime brokerage, swaps, listed and OTC derivatives) Familiarity with the typical legal agreements governing the products/arrangements (e.g., PBA and Margin/Financing Lockups, Futures & Options Agreements, ISDA/CSA, GMRA/MRA, etc.) To succeed in this role, you must be. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
