Job SummaryThe VP position within Arch's Product Development team under the Corporate Underwriting (CU) umbrella is responsible for a myriad of product development functions with focus on Coverage and Product Expertise in support of various business unit writing General Liability, Commercial Automobile, Commercial Umbrella and Business Property in a collaborative, fast-pace, and dynamic Speed-To-Market environment.
This role will support all Business Units writing GL, Auto and Umbrella/Excess lines of business with GWP premium of over $3B in 2023 reflecting 20% growth over 2022.
ResponsibilitiesLeading the development, implementation and execution of product development strategies to deliver profitable, compliant and marketable general liability, commercial automobile and commercial umbrella/excess products in support of overall business objectives.
Provides legal oversight and subject matter expertise for the drafting of policy form language and the preparation of coverage analysis for general liability, commercial automobile and commercial umbrella/excess products.
Managing staff performance; implement strategies and plans to address staff development; identify and address training needs on an ongoing basisCollaborating with Underwriting, Compliance, Claims, Actuarial, and other stakeholders to ensure knowledge gathering and sharing on market trends, regulatory impacts, legal changes and loss developments on lines of business.
Leverage resources, technology, and processes to drive innovation within the teamIdentifying and implementing best practices for proper and consistent form development, compliance and achievement of business goalsAssist with development of CU-Product annual operational goals and objectivesEngage, manage and maintain relationships with outside counsel and other third partiesCommunicate effectively with business units, internal stakeholders, and external parties on relevant product developmentsPerform other duties and/or projects as assigned Qualifications Demonstrated people management and development skills in a service management role Detailed technical knowledge of general liability, umbrella/excess and automobile with the ability to advise, train and manage staff Hands-on experience and strong aptitude with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint Exceptional communication (written and verbal), evaluating, influencing, negotiating, listening, and interpersonal skills to effectively develop productive working relationships with internal/external peers and other professionals across organizational lines Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, analytical, organizational, and time management skills Ability to analyze, organize, and present information in a clear and succinct manner Ability to take part in active strategic discussions Ability to work independently and in a team environmentEducation and Experience Bachelor's degree; Juris Doctorate degree, Admittance to state bar in good standing Ten plus (10+) years working experience in the insurance industry Willing and able to travel 10-15% This position is a hybrid role with 2 days in office#LI-EOFor individuals assigned or hired to work in California, Colorado, Jersey City, NJ; New York State; and/or Washington State, the base salary range is listed below.
This range is as of the time of posting.
Position is incentive eligible.
$170,000 - $220,000/yearTotal individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs.
