An experienced litigation attorney who serves as a member of Flagstar Bank's Legal Department as Senior Counsel.
The Senior Counsel will be responsible for providing primary legal support, litigation management, and providing legal advice to Flagstar Bank and its various lines of business.
In this role, your primary responsibilities will include:
Manages litigation brought against the bank on complex matters related to the bank's primary business practices including deposit banking, lending, mortgage servicing, broker-dealers and general corporate matters, including state and regulatory compliance.
Responsible for all aspects of litigation management and strategy including, review of claims, research, working with impacted business leaders, selection of outside counsel, review of all legal pleadings, overseeing budget.
Provide legal advice and counsel on a variety of matters relevant to the business operations of a commercial bank, broker-dealer, and mortgage lender and servicer.
Provides compliance review of federal and state regulations applicable to business operations.
Performs legal research and risk assessment, as needed.
Assists with E-Discovery attorney and Legal Processing teams with identifying documents, reviewing for compliance, privilege review, and production of documents responsive to all subpoenas received by the bank Supports other attorneys in the Legal department on complex transactions and strategic assignments, as needed.
Assists with development of junior lawyers and department staff, and the maintenance of standard legal documentation and procedures.
Maintains relationships with internal colleagues in other departments/disciplines to proactively address issues.
Ability to act autonomously on issues/decisions, including complex legal matters.
To be successful, your background should match these
Qualifications:
Doctoral degree (JD or Ph.
D) or equivalent required from an American Bar Association accredited law school5-10 years of relevant legal experience practicing at a law firm and/or in-house legal department at a commercial bank or other equivalent financial services company.
Licensed to practice law in the State of New YorkKnowledge of the legal and regulatory requirements for commercial banks, including relevant US and NY banking laws.
Excellent drafting skills.
Advanced understanding of overall firm, assigned business lines, and competitive landscape in commercial banking.
Ability to exercise good judgment and decision-making skills under pressure.
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to prioritize work and has strong attention to detail.
Ability to mentor and train junior lawyers in department.
Compensation:

A.
offers a base salary in this position with a range of $140,000 - $180,000, dependent on qualifications and experience.
In addition, there may be an annual bonus plan that is paid based on merit and performance in the role.
