Job Description SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Registers patients according to department's workflow, ensuring proper insurance verification, and greets all customers in a professional, friendly manner and assist patients and their relatives.
This includes demographic & emergency contact collection, insurance information & verification, MSPQ and Copay collections.
Also, correction of registration related work queue issues.
Works closely with Team members including medical staff, ancillary staff, nursing staff and other internal and external customers.
Maintains positive relationships with all customers (e.
g.
patients, significant others, physicians, nurses and associates).
Responds to emergency plans as directed by the department/unit responsibilities.
Interacts with nursing team, doctors, and other medical personnel for patient care such as Social Worker and Care/Case Manager Prepares charts for patients including the following sheets:
Trauma Flow Form, Physician Order, Death Certificate, Moderate Sedation Flow Form, Patient Property Form, Restraint Flow Sheet, etc.
Labels each sheet/item in the medical record correctly for each patient.
Screens charts for completeness, ensuring that all registration documents are properly completed and signed.
Answers and manages telephone calls and intercom, relaying information to the appropriate personnel on the Unit.
Correctly scans patient requisitions into the computer system as necessary (EKG, Respiratory Therapy, Radiology, etc.
).
Secures records from previous admissions and or E.
D.
visit(s) as necessary.
Maintains an adequate supply of physician and nursing forms, patient information and release forms.
Prepares charts for transfer, admission, discharge, and making copies when necessary.
Schedules all appointment referrals.
Scan charts daily.
Filing medical reports, treatments and feeding it into the computer system.
Sends out the ALL PAGE whenever a code is called in the E.
D.
Communicates with medical staff, other departments and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality.
Assisting Law Enforcement personnel with information of victims of accidents, violence and terrorist acts, when appropriate to do so.
Ensures adherence to proper infection control, OSHA and safety standards.
Operates the copier, performs minor trouble shooting and requesting service when machines need more than routine maintenance/attention.
Provide coverage for 0.
5 Rest Period and 1 Hour lunch break without disrupting the workflow.
Directs visitors to the patients' rooms as needed.
In the Observation Unit, maintains the medical records on the patients in the Unit.
Arranges for Transportation as necessary.
Supervises Clerical Associate lls when called to do so.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications 1.
A high school diploma or its educational equivalent; and 2.
Six (6) months of full-time satisfactory clerical experience and/or experience interacting with the public, such as processing sales; taking, processing, and delivering orders; obtaining and dispensing information; listening to and resolving customers concerns, problems, and complaints; and/or performing related customer service activities.
