56 an hour About the Role As a Structural Maintenance Mechanic, you'll play a key role in delivering projects such as a build-out of Electrical Vehicles charging stations and other preemptive maintenance support projects at various New York and New Jersey facilities.
This role offers growth opportunities in a wide variety of trade duties, involving journey-level repair and construction work on buildings, warehouses, storage tanks, towers, piers and fenders.
The starting salary for the Structural Maintenance Mechanic position is:

This salary is subject to the collective bargaining agreement for this position.
Responsibilities Carpentry Masonry Metal (burning/welding) Building Maintenance (including paving, roofing, painting) Work at elevated heights from all interior and exterior structural fabrications Prepare, install, and dismantle rigging equipment and safety nets Structural Maintenance Mechanics can be assigned to any Port Authority facilities.
Shift:
Structural Maintenance Mechanics work a 40-hour week, which includes working rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution Three years full-time paid work experience in the general or heavy structural maintenance fields or one of the following responsibilities listed Valid driver license with the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class B Commercial Drivers license with Air Brake and Tank Vehicle endorsements before the first day of work.

Carpentry Metal Working Painting Masonry Welding and Burning Proper selection and use of hand tools, power tools, and other equipment related to these trades Power tools Blueprints and Diagrams Scaffolding Rigging Trade Math Relevant Safety procedures Qualifying Height Test:
A qualifying height test will measure the candidate's ability to walk and simulate working at heights.
Performance Test:
The performance test may measure the candidate's ability to perform work activities such as:
Scaffolding and Rigging Metal fabrication using oxyacetylene Burning/Welding equipment Carpentry Flooring Masonry and Painting activities relevant to the trade The written test for this evaluation will be administered at a Testing Center, you will be able to self-schedule yourself to test.
Candidates who are successful on the written test will be notified to appear for a Qualifying Height Test.
Candidates who are successful on both the written test and Qualifying Height Test will be notified to appear for the performance test.
Only candidates who are successful on the written and height tests will be invited to the performance test.
