Assistant Nurse Manager- Hospice

OverviewDirectly provides resident care in the Hopsice unit ; assumes responsibility for professional development of self and staff; is accountable to his/her supervisor; follows established nursing care plans; supervises care given by CNAs. Responsibilities Supervises staff who provide for the physical, emotional, spiritual and social economic needs of each resident. Participates in defining and interpreting standards of nursing Practice and maintains standards through direct supervision. Participates in determining conditions , resources and policies essential to delivery of nursing care services. Promotes effective communication between medical and nursing staffs and significant others by means of accurate , comprehensive and meaningful recording and reporting. Acts as a liaison between residents, family, visitors, staff and community agencies. Coordinates the nursing services of the unit with other resident care and administrative , instructional services. Represents the department through assignments to nursing or other interdepartmental committees. May render direct nursing care, administer medications and perform treatments. Participates in preparing and maintaining resident's clinical records. May direct and decide upon immediate emergency care. Develops a staffing assignment pattern to provide optimum utilization of nursing service staff and continuity of nursing care. Serves as a resource person and provides instruction as indicated. Fosters an environment among unit personnel to attain a high morale, maximum job satisfaction and productivity. Counsels Nursing Services Staff on personal and job related matters, as indicated. Allocates time for staff and self to participate in unit conferences, inservice activities and other educational programs. Continues professional growth through current literature, meetings, workshops and inservice programs in the home and outside the home. Delegates appropriate responsibilities to develop clinical management and teaching potential of each staff member. Assumes department supervisory functions as delegated. May interview, select and effectively recommend applicants for nursing positions. Recommends discipline and recommends discharge. Assists other employees where needed. Responsible and cooperative with supervisors, fellow employees, residents and families. Maintains friendly working atmosphere. Maintains professional attitude. Maintains professional appearance. Provides assistance with resident care where applicable. Promotes the organization's and departmental image, philosophy and policies. Follows organizational and departmental polices and procedures. Follows assigned safety, security and fire procedures. Reports any accidents and dangerous situations immediately. Maintains confidentiality of organizational and resident information. Performs other related duties as assigned. QualificationsEducation Requirements Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. High School Diploma or equivalentEducation Desired Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.Experience Requirements 1 years of experience.Experience Desired:
hospice experinece desired 2 years of experience preferably in a geriatric setting.License Requirements Current New York State registration as a Registered Professional Nurse.Skill Requirements Judgment required to solve work related problems
