Senior Vice President- Chief Medical Officer

Overview
The Chief Medical Officer is a key member of the senior management team and leads the overall clinical vision for ArchCare by creating a clinical integrated network of services. Reporting to the President & Chief Executive Officer, this position provides medical oversight, expertise and leadership to ensure the delivery of quality health care services. Responsibilities also include quality improvement programs across the system, the development and implementation of innovative clinical programs that include collaboration with strategic professional, academic and business partners.
Responsibilities
Leads and implements the clinical direction for the organization by defining and articulating clinical strategy, clinical policy and procedure to meet organizational quality and growth objectives.
Oversees the implementation of quality improvement efforts designed to improve clinical performance and maintain compliance.
Actively engages in business development and strategic partnership opportunities to include presenting clinical and business capabilities to potential partners, legislative and regulatory officials and other key constituents.
Participates in senior management business and clinical strategy development and implementation.
Promotes collaboration to both internal and external healthcare team members, including physician leadership to achieve shared goals.
Develops and implements strategic goals related to the quality improvement, management programs and accreditation standards.
Assists with analytics and development of quality measures for new payment models (value based / risk based payment structures).
Demonstrates commitment to service excellence in all internal and external relationships, addressing service excellence deficits in staff, and in performance of all duties and responsibilities of this position.
Provides additional assistance within and outside of clinical arena, as requested and / or as appropriate, to ensure the ongoing success of the organization.
Ensures medical services and operations are in compliance with all applicable regulatory and licensing agencies.
Keeps abreast of emerging models in health care delivery; identify and define new and innovative strategies to achieve business goals and objectives.
Qualifications
MD degree from an accredited university
Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in New York State
Certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties in his/her respective specialty
An internist or geriatrician who:
o has successfully worked in a leadership role with a major health system or payer in NYC, and who has led/managed physicians within that organization (department director, health plan CMO)
o has been engaged in both acute and post-acute care either through health system or health plan leadership
o understands Medicare and managed care payment
Minimum of 10 years experience in medical management
Minimum of 5 years experience in progressively responsible administrative or management related positions within a complex health care environment, preferably in long term care/post acute care.
Previous experience providing services and exercising leadership in a culturally diverse setting with demonstrated success.
