Assistant Counsel, Real Estate

Position based in New York City
Provide legal advice to clients in connection with the preparation and negotiation of a wide variety of real estate documents required for the development, construction, and operation of retail and commercial properties (e.g., lease agreements, purchase and sale agreements, estoppel certificates)
Coordinate and manage outside law firms with respect to real estate disputes and litigation as well as complex commercial and retail transactions
Advise on environmental matters related to real estate transactions
Supervise shared paralegals and administrative assistants in the preparation of lease summaries, lease abstracts and other documentation to facilitate the completion of real estate transactions
Advise and consult with all levels of the organization including senior leadership to identify critical legal issues, assess potential legal options, and provide individuals and teams with an analysis and range of possible legal solutions
Oversee all legal activities related to real estate matters involving Est e Lauder and its portfolio of brands and business units
JD from a top law school
Licensed in NY
5-7 years of real estate experience at AM Law 200 firm and/or Fortune 1000 company
Global experience; experience working with multi-national companies
Experienced business lawyer with ability to form strong relationships with business leaders to achieve objectives of the Real Estate functions
Ability to execute in a complex matrixed environment
Strong technology skills (e.g. Office 365 (includes SharePoint)
