Summary:
Inspects,operates, maintains and repairs Central Plant equipment such as cooling towerspumps, fans, engines, generators, turbines, liquid chillers, compressors andcompressed air systems, vacuum systems, heating and ventilating equipment andrelated auxiliary equipment. Performs tests, submits reports, and documents allwork and activities. Supervises others engaged in work in the Central orRefrigeration Plants. Serves as Refrigeration Watch Engineer as assigned.Performs any and all related duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer,Assistant Chief Engineer or Plant Manger
Duties&
Responsibilities:
1. Operates and regulates chilled watergeneration equipment and all related systems. Operates and maintains coolingtowers, chilled water pumps, condenser water pumps, make-up water pumps,domestic water pumps, sump pumps, ejector pumps, fire pumps, system strainers,chemical feeders and blow downs. Works closely with the KCC Boiler PlantStationary Engineers and other staff as required. Uses BAS and other operatorcomputerized controls systems to make adjustments and monitor system operation.Takes remedial action as required in response to alarm conditions or systemfailures as observed or reported.
2. Operates monitors and maintains asrequired other Central Plant equipment such as emergency generators, automaticswitching equipment, Motor Control Centers, combustion air or HV fans andCentral Plant exhaust systems. Operates and monitors systems for the conveyanceof medical gases such as medical air, medical vacuum, oxygen, nitrogen, carbondioxide, etc.
3. Records data such as hours ofequipment operation, temperature and pressure, fuel consumption, equipmentstatus and change of status all in accordance with existing regulations andsafety procedures. Records same on round sheets, logbooks, computerizedentries, work order systems and reports of any type as required.
4. Coordinates work assignments andsupervises other plant staff such as maintenance mechanics, plumbers,electricians, maintenance workers, trades helpers, etc. Determines workpriorities in absence of specific instructions from the Chief Engineer andinspects all work for quality, quantity and completeness.
5. Establishes and maintains professionalrelationships with outside service contractors responsible for repairs andmaintenance of Central Plant Systems. Interfaces as needed to ensure thatassigned outside work is performed safely and efficiently. Operates plantsystems as needed to facilitate the completion of repairs and maintenance workby outside contractors including starting, stopping and testing of operatingparameters of Central Plant Systems.
6. Maintains and follows all establishedsafety and security procedures as established by Plant Manager, FacilitiesManagement and Mount Sinai Environmental Health and Safety Departments.
7. Performs any and all other relatedduties as required or assigned by the Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineeror the Plant Manager.
What You'll Bring:
Education & Certification:
High School or GED
Refrigeration License
Must be able to obtain Certificate ofFitness A-35, G-71, G-79, P-98 or equivalents within 30 days of appointment ifrequired by Facilities Management.
Additional Certifications asdetermined by Facilities Management.
Experience:
3 5 years progressive experience asa Watch Engineer in a high capacity Power/Energy Plant.
