Senior Oracle Database Administrator

The Senior Database/System Administrator will oversee all Oracle database operations for Ad Sales applications. This individual will be responsible for providing DBA services to application development teams, support multiple database environments, and manage the build-out of database infrastructure. S/he will own the various tiers (server, DB, storage) and serve as a key subject matter expert on application infrastructure. One primary focus will be to proactively analyze, identify, and implement performance improvements to custom and vendor applications. S/he will coordinate across teams when required, while providing accountability to the Ad Sales department on application infrastructure. This individual will oversee a small team of DB engineers and administrators to ensure 24 x 7 support.
Specific duties will include the following:
Install / configure new databases in both RAC and non-RAC environments
Install / configure new Data Guard physical standby databases
Install / configure Goldengate where needed
Troubleshoot database problems in both production and non-production environments; lead RCA process and ensure all fixes are fully implemented, collaborate across infrastructure teams to determine RCA
Use appropriate tuning methodology and tools (such as AWR, ADDM, ASH, autotrace) to triage and resolve performance problems
Collaborate with business units, application teams and administration teams to design, size and plan new environments
Project manage, research, plan and execute database upgrades
Plan for system growth and scalability
Support standard 'mailbox' type requests (create schemas, create objects, grant privileges, kill sessions, etc)
Support scheduled and emergency maintenance events
Participate in other infrastructure upgrades for servers, storage devices
Prepare / update storage diagrams for both ASM and non-ASM environments
Prepare / review performance reports and segment space reports
Prepare / update technical documentation including for the following: operational manual, backup / recovery, database maintenance, patching
Prepare / update non-technical documentation including for the following: system designs, operating procedures, system events and root cause analysis
Attend weekly department management meetings; report on the status of assigned projects and planned changes within the Database Administration group Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering (or equivalent relevant work experience)
Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in database administration using Oracle databases (10g, 11g, 12c a plus) and/or Oracle Exadata; including installation, configuration, tuning, patching, upgrading, troubleshooting
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in Sun Solaris / Linux platforms with storage and networking experience
Efficient at tuning SQL
Experience working with Oracle Recovery Manager and Netbackup
Experience creating Unix shell scripts
Experience working with Oracle GRID Control
Strong hands on experience with RAC infrastructure, ASM, RMAN, and dataguard
Exceptional troubleshooting skills to analyze problems at all levels
Must be able to work off-hours and provide 24x7 support in on-call rotation
Must be detail-oriented and deliberate
Experience developing and documenting directions and operating procedures
Must be able to lead initiatives in keeping with established standards, with a willingness to identify and drive consensus
Must have strong ability to multi-task and re-adjust priorities if project requirements change
