BASIC FUNCTION
The Product Manager role for the Legal Markets group within Legal and Regulatory U.S., working with the Portfolio Director, is responsible for developing and executing the overall product and business plans for assigned product families during the full product lifecycle, managing the profit/loss of each product, identifying the content, processes and functionality of product enhancements for existing products, and new opportunities for growth.
Specific responsibilities and requirements follow.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with the Portfolio Director to develop business plans for their portfolio.
Interact with target markets on an ongoing basis through customer visits/calls, participation in select sales opportunities, meetings with other industry stakeholders, and attendance at industry events.
Assist in the definition of the strategic position of products, target customer profiles, and key messages and unique selling propositions; research customers, markets, and competition. Assist in the identification of products and enhancements that will solve key customer problems within identified market segments and assist in the development of strategic alliances and partnerships for product line growth.
In coordination with the Portfolio Director, oversee the development and execution of product strategy and associated development plans/ product roadmaps to achieve business goals of revenue growth, increased market penetration, and customer retention; assist in the development of marketing and sales strategies/plans to achieve these goals.
In coordination with the Product Director, analyze financial performance of products to identify trends (positive and negative) amongst products, product versions and customer segments.
In coordination with the Portfolio Director, assist in preparation of annual budgets; provide ongoing revenue and expense forecasts; track performance against objectives and work with other groups such as sales and marketing to initiate action when objectives are not met; serve as the subject matter expert, primary champion, and advocate of the product lines.
Identify opportunities for use of third-party applications in product offerings; identify third-party providers and applications; coordinate third-party product development with internal product delivery.
In coordination with the Portfolio Director, research new business opportunities; develop and present business cases and financial models for new product offerings.
Work with Technical Product Managers and Business Analysts to bring new products to market.
OTHER DUTIES

Qualifications: JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Minimum: Bachelor's Degree with coursework in business or marketing.
Preferred: Master's Degree in business administration or Juris Doctorate Degree.
Experience: A minimum of 10
years' experience in the sales/ marketing of software or content products; previous product management experience
Preferred Experience (includes minimum): 8 years of experience in the legal market, including:
Working within a multi-division organization with various sales channels.
Product management in the legal, document management, business process outsourcing, or financial services industries.
Managing a $5M
P&L.
Web-based software product delivery.
Knowledge of relevant practice area and workflow
Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:
Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan and complete work on tight deadlines and budgets; ability to work in an atmosphere of multiple projects and shifting priorities.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with professional and technical staff, outside prospects, customers, salespersons, and third-party partners.
Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong professional presentation skills and the ability to develop written proposals and client presentations.
Excellent analytical skills.
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Up to 30% national and local travel; occasional international travel.
