What You'll Do:
Responsible for office, out-patient, andinpatient physician coding. Provides education regarding documentationrequirements for improved quality of coding and to ensure accurate and completecapture of revenue.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsible for performing specialty coding forservices and medical office visits.
Validates and determines appropriate codinglevels by obtaining and reviewing clinical documentation.
Compares and reviews charge tickets, bothmanually and system generated, to clinical documentation to ensure that allcharges for procedures and pharmacy items have been accurately documented andcaptured.
Ensures that documentation supports charges toprevent denials/underpayments.
Follows-up on missing charge tickets and clinicaldocumentation as appropriate
Assist with implementation of documentation andrevenue enhancement opportunities.
Collaborates with clinical staff to identify andimplement appropriate documentation and coding modifications.
Reviews and distributes coding relatedinformation to clinical staff, including CPT and ICD-9 code changes, medicalnecessity policies, coding /billing information regarding new procedures andpharmacy items.
In conjunction with Sr. Billing Analyst, identifyrelevant charge master or fee updates.
Responsible for resolving any coding relatederrors and denials that are identified by Hospital or Practice billing systemas part of the revenue enhancement initiatives.
Consults and provides feedback with frontlineclinical staff and financial coordinators to identify reimbursable indicationsfor treatment.
Assists on reviews of revenue cycle withmanagement and supervisor.
Participates in education programs to maintain upto date coding skills.
Participates with the Compliance Department inrandom chart audits to ensure appropriate documentation, coding and billing.
What You'll Bring:
Associates degree or HS Diploma/GED plus twoyears of related experience.
Two years of experience in medical practice oroutpatient coding.
Medical practice business office or patientaccounts experience a plus.
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
