Youth Corps Program Aide

Overview.Responsibilities
Assist the After School Assistant Program Director and Corps Ministry Program Assistant with all organizational, administrative and managerial aspects of youth programs, help cultivate relationships with youth and families from the Kids Club, Music School as well as Summer Day Camp, and work towards bridging same kids and families into other Corps Programs and Services. The Youth Corps Program Aide will be responsible for the Kids Club in the absence of the Kids Club Director/ After School Program Director/ Summer Day Camp Director.
Help in supervision of children enforcing appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures.Implement youth program schedules, supervise children, and leading other outreach youth programs such as Music School, Sunbeams, Moonbeams, Girl Guards, Boys Adventure, and Rangers.
Serve as Star Lake Camp- Corps liaison during sign-up, follow-up, and transportation of campers to Star Lake Camp.
Drive participants of Divisional Youth Groups to rehearsals, and other Divisional/Territorial events as needed.
Serve as the leader of Music School by making sure that teachers are present, making accommodations when someone is absent.
To invest in the lives of children, teens, and young adults by developing and maintaining relational ministry opportunities that includes phone calls, visitations, texts, etc.
Make the most of every opportunity to minister, pray, and present the gospel of Jesus Christ to those in your sphere of influence.
Keep record of any statistics related to this position that may be assigned at any given time and give a report to the Corps Officer.
Help organize and lead Sunday School as needed.
Cooperating with all members of staff regardless of their position.
Assist with other duties, as directed.
Assist in any ongoing corps projects or special events.
Assist with supervision on field trips or other outings during and outside of the Kids Club normal hours.
Involvement in the total program with willingness to help in all areas as needed, including dining room, outdoor/indoor activities, children with problems, weekly devotions, etc.
Should provide and project positive reinforcement to problem solving and encourage independent study by students during Kids Club.
Assist students with homework and ensure that it has been completed correctly as needed and follow up with parents as needed.
Promote observance of the moral and ethical codes affecting participants, staff, and volunteers.
Attend and contribute to Program Leadership & General Staff Meetings.
Responsible for sharing with the Corps Officers and After School Assistant Program Director, all matters of mutual concern relating to Kids Club/ Afterschool Program/ Summer Day Camp.
Responsible for the leadership and guidance of assigned children.
Assume responsibility for the health, cleanliness, good habits, welfare and happiness of all children under your direct supervision.
Maintain a high level of interaction with children.
Voice criticisms to the Corps officer and respond positively to their directives, thereafter.
Required to communicate and work with groups of various ages and skill levels, and provide necessary instruction to children
Required to identify and physically respond appropriately and quickly to emergency situations, as needed.
Complete additional tasks as assigned, by the Corps Officers.
Attend educational seminars as required by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services
Qualifications
High school graduate and some college (Associate Degree preferred)
Must have a valid New York State Driver's License
Responsible, respectful, positive role model, and able to follow instruction
Have good organizational skills
Patient and able to assist children in academic subject areas
Strong communication skills, positive attitude, initiative, flexibility dependability, creativity and ability to work both independently and as a member of a professional team.
Must be a mature Christian believer.
Is a uniform wearing Salvationist.
Has a commitment to evangelical Christian outreach.
Is self-motivated and hardworking.
Ability to support, instruct, and connect with children, staff and church leaders
Able to assist with the promotion of The Salvation Army Mission & Values
