Compliance
The compliance team oversees the regulated activities that Barclays undertakes. They're responsible for setting out regulatory policies, keeping senior management informed about regulatory issues and monitoring conformance reviews.
The team includes experts in three main disciplines: regulatory compliance (including privacy and large shareholdings); anti-money laundering, sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption; and operations.
Overall purpose of role:
The job holder will be responsible for ensuring:
Compliance with policies, procedures and US regulations for the NY Branch Correspondent Banking and Corporate Banking line of business in relation to AML surveillance
The Bank meets its statutory obligations for reporting suspicious activity
This will involve investigation of suspicious activity from alerts generated by surveillance systems and manual cases from internal and external referrals with SAR reporting as appropriate. This includes ownership of the investigation from assignment to closure and follow-up after closure as needed.

Conduct initial analysis and assessment of alerts generated from system-generated alerts and cases using internal/external research tools
Conduct manual reviews/special investigations including but not limited to 314(a)/314(b) investigations, Grand Jury Subpoenas, Law Enforcement requests, negative media, and fraud.
Take ownership of individual cases using appropriate case management tools and techniques to progress in order to meet timescales for alert investigation processing
Accurately document supporting evidence for alert/case closure or SAR filing.
Participate and assist in miscellaneous projects and tasks as requested by the Management team
Stakeholder management and leadership.
Communicate across Barclays jurisdictions to gather additional data as required
Proactively contribute to team performance and share best practice across team
Actively participate and contribute in team meetings and shareforums with colleagues overseas
Decision making and problem solving.
Determine if additional field enquiries are required and escalate as appropriate for non/low quality responses from the various Barclays affiliates
Carry out varying levels of research/investigation, depending on the complexity of each alert/case , and write narratives and/or investigation reports
Prepare quality SAR narrative for presentation at SAR review meetings
Risk and Control Objective: All Barclays colleagues have to ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards
Your Skills and Qualifications will include
Basic Qualifications
4-year college degree or international equivalent
4 years of AML Compliance and Bank Secrecy Act experience
2 years of research and/or investigations including Fraud, AML, Credit or Risk
2 years of Microsoft office applications and Internet search tools
2 years of case management recording
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Compliance, Risk, Operations or Control
Knowledge of Correspondent Banking
CAMS certification

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
