Our Team Our Global Information Systems Team is responsible for designing, deploying, and supporting Bloomberg's the internal IT systems including our global corporate network, and the hardware/software to support nearly 19,000 employees in more than 170 offices around the world.
Our employees rely on the technology solutions and support that we provide to do their jobs in a fast-paced, highly-demanding, technology-focused environment.
Our 19,000 employees generate more than 320,000 service requests each year through a ticketing system that drives both human and automated services--from software download to a Desktop dispatch.
We handle approximately 400
software titles, as well as, monitor and implement security for the entire corporate network that consists of 28,000 PCs, 50,000 screen displays and 120,000 network connections.
What's The Role? As Server & Storage Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, automating and provisioning Global hypervisor solutions.
You will also be responsible for designing SAN & NAS infrastructure and to automate all aspects of the virtualization, server and storage lifecycle.
You will drive the compute and storage needs for all internal Bloomberg Businesses.
You will handle the storage infrastructure as well as the physical & virtual server needs for internal businesses including our datacenters, corporate locations, and global remote offices.
We engineer our Infrastructure Systems from an availability, capacity, and security perspective which includes KPIs, SLAs, and OLAs throughout our environments.
You will be accountable for designing and deployment of multi-site infrastructure utilizing Windows (Server 2012, 2016) and virtualization technologies such as vSphere & ESXi.
You will engineer and manage SAN & NAS infrastructure across various platforms including EMC (VNX, Isilon), NetApp (FAS, AFF), Pure, Cisco MDS and Brocade switches.
In addition, you will manage various X86 platforms and converged infrastructure such as HP Servers, Flex Fabric, and Cisco UCS.
We maintain the infrastructure using a multitude of tools including OneView, Grafana, Orion, vCenter, LogInsight, NetApp OCUM, Insight IQ and Splunk.
We collaborate across other internal teams (including Security, Risk, and CTO) to improve, secure, and implement technologies at the server and storage level.
We'll Trust You To:
Implement best practices, strategies, methodologies, and approaches to back-end infrastructure, tasks and complex projects Develop standards and implementation processes to ensure product uniformity and quality.
Document, deploy, and improve new and existing server & storage infrastructure to continually improve Bloomberg's internal user experience.
Continue to understand latest industry trends, best practices and internal business needs.
You'll Need To Have:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Information Technology Deep expertise troubleshooting complex distributed systems Minimum of 7 years' of experience with deploying service virtualization solutions in an enterprise environment with one of the following tools; e.
g.
VMWare, Docker, Citrix, Hyper-V Deep understanding of TCP/IP and Unix networking, Linux kernel, SAN and NAS Knowledge of Shell Scripting, Python/Perl Programming, PowerShell and/or similar Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on listening, elicitation, and collaborative design skills Ability to absorb and retain information quickly Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to learn and apply new technologies Project Management We'd Love To See:
Experience with creating and improving documented procedures and/or playbooks Knowledge of VSAN configuration and deployment Working knowledge of Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or Salt Familiarity with open source configuration and orchestration, tools Familiarity with large-scale x86 infrastructure with thousands of machines Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Splunk, Elk, Grafana, Nagios Experience supporting Microsoft SQL & Windows Clustering If This Sounds Like You:
