The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is seeking a highly motivated and qualified candidate for a full-time permanent position as a Civil Engineer within the Division of Dam Safety & Inspections in the Office of Energy Projects. This position is located in the New York,NY Regional Office. Candidates should have experience in independently applying one or more of the following disciplines of civil engineering to the investigation, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure facilities:
structural, hydrologic, hydraulic, geotechnical, and engineering geology. Assignments may require substantial travel, and can involve hiking to remote locations via path(s) which may include steep grades, lose footing conditions, and extended lengths; climbing steeply inclined faces of dams; and descending into dam galleries, penstocks, and tunnels. Candidates must be able to endure harsh environmental conditions such as heat, cold, rain, flora, and fauna. The mission of the Office of Energy Projects is to facilitate potential benefits to the nation through the review of natural gas and hydropower infrastructure proposals and minimize risks to the public associated with FERC jurisdictional energy infrastructure. Conducts inspections of licensed hydroelectric projects having highly difficult, complex, and/or controversial features. Prepares engineering reports to establish and document the dam safety, public safety, and environmental and license compliance of the hydroelectric project. Evaluates the adequacy of design, constructability, and compliance with current engineering criteria and practices. For a GS-12:
At least one year of experience at the GS-11 Level. Experience in applying one or more of the following disciplines of civil engineering to the investigation, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure facilities:
structural, hydrologic, hydraulic, geotechnical, and engineering geology. For a GS-13:
At least one year of experience at the GS-12 Level. Experience in independently applying one or more of the following disciplines of civil engineering to the investigation, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure facilities:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
