At the entry level of this position, you will:
- As Deputy Project Officer, assist in performing portions or phases of assignments designed to provide experience in the practical application of environmental engineering or scientific concepts, practices, and principles as they relate to the study and remediation of hazardous waste sites; - Assist in the review and evaluation of contractor pricing proposals for work assignments, cost price and contract modification negotiations, and contractor vouchers using pre-set criteria from EPA guidance and guidelines provided by the Project Officer; - Prepare work assignment packages for the contractors' use, including remedial investigations, feasibility studies, remedial designs, etc., and review all work assignments to ensure consistence and conformance with operating procedures; - Support Section and Branch Supervisor in allocation, tracking, and oversight of the remedial budget used to support Remedial Investigations/Feasibility Studies through Remedial Action activities.When entering a Federal job at a grade level lower than the highest promotion potential level, you may be promoted to more complex duties and work more independently, as your career progresses. You will spend (select one from this list:
more than 50% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or interagency agreements. One or more positions may be filled. We are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:
To qualify for the GS-05 level, you do not need specialized experience; you need a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in the academic discipline as described below.To qualify for the GS-07 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-05 level defined as preparing technical documents, assisting in the management of projects and/or contracts.- OR 1 full year of graduate level education; or superior academic achievement (Superior Academic Achievement Definition) degree in an academic discipline related to this position- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.To qualify for the GS-09 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-07 level defined as reviewing contract documents, drafting technical materials, assisting in the management of special projects or programs.- OR master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related; degree in an academic discipline related to this position- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
