Presented in its original color combination of Blue (Code 903) with its original Blue MB Tex (Code 135) interior in excellent condition, with minor signs of aging.
The included Protecto Plate, and original Servicing book confirm that this 280SL retains its original, matching numbers engine, which was treated to a timing chain service and ignition service about 1500 miles ago by a European Classic specialist.
This 280SL has its headlight notches, some of the best we've seen, along with spot welds in all the correct places along the fender edges and on the front nose, confirming it was never involved in a collision or had replacement fenders installed.
While this 280SL is not perfect, it has a plethora of excellent, investment worthy attributes that would make it a perfect driver quality car, or a car to elevate to Concours level, if so desired.
The car was stripped to bare metal and fully repainted in 1989 in its original color.
This 33 year old paint job presents as a 3-5 year old paint job, with only minor imperfections and aging, but overall is in excellent shape.
This 280SL has both its soft top, a replacement blue top in excellent serviceable condition, and its original, stamped Hard top in factory blue.
We installed a new set of Hankook White Line Tires, and we had certain aspects of the exterior and interior refreshed and touched up to ensure serviceability for the next few decades.
This 280SL was originally delivered to a Louis Grunin, in Freeport NY.
It then moved to California (with period photos) from 1977-1997, when it changed hands to an Ohio Based collector, who we acquired it from.
It retains a full servicing history back to Day 1, with a Stamped Service booklet, and a thick binder with all records.
The original radio working as it should, all gauges are operational, and the heater sliders are free and not seized up like many are.
The exhaust is a brand new stainless steel unit.
This 280SL is ready to be driven and enjoyed by its next new caretaker.
Comes with:
Hard top, owners manual, service history, binder, spare key, spare wheel, tools, jack, and top tools.
